Child and Adolescent Mental Health & Substance Abuse State
Infrastructure Grants (CA-SIG)
South Carolina
Child, Adolescent and Family Services SIG
Offering Assistance, Stability and Intensive Support for families (OASIS) Family
Affiliates, will provide crisis/respite services to children with serious
emotional disturbances who other wise would be at-risk of out-of-home
placement. Crisis/respite services will provide a link in the system of
care for children up to 17 years of age.
Building on the work of previous federal grants, South Carolina proposes a
project to fill in the gaps in its services for children and adolescents with
serious emotional disturbances (SED). Governor Sanford, the Department of
Mental Health and stakeholders recommend an infrastructure for crisis/respite
services to improve our State’s system of care that offers mental health and
substance abuse services in the least restrictive settings. The emphasis
is on help youth stay at home, in school, and out of trouble.
The over all goal of OASIS Family Affiliates is to develop a statewide system of
crisis/respite services to care for children and adolescents who have a serious
emotional disturbance, substance abuse disorder, and co-occurring disorders.
